Graceway’s
Discipleship Program
That we (the body) mutually grow in our love and devotion to Jesus by learning from one another how to follow Christ. This is done by living life together, loving one another genuinely, and glorifying God by living obediently to His Word.

"A learner and a follower" describes the ideal role of Christian disciples. It means that as followers of Christ, they embrace two core responsibilities:
Continuous Learning: Christian disciples are committed to deepening their understanding of Christ's teachings and the Scriptures. They strive to gain knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual insight from studying and meditating on God's Word.
Close Following: In accordance with Mark 8:34, Christian disciples actively emulate Christ's example in their daily lives. They seek to embody His love, compassion, and selflessness while following His moral and ethical guidance.
In essence, being a "learner and a follower" encapsulates the dual commitment to knowledge and practical application of Christ's teachings.
-
Helping Others Follow Jesus (Matt 28:19): This involves the essential mission of Christian disciples to make more disciples. It means sharing the teachings of Jesus and guiding others on their journey of faith, emphasizing the Great Commission from Matthew 28:19.
Deliberately Doing Good and Helping Someone Spiritually: This practice involves intentionally performing acts of kindness while also providing spiritual guidance and support to help someone grow in their likeness to Christ. It combines the principles of benevolence and spiritual mentorship.
Working for Conversion and Maturity (E. Raymond): This encapsulates the comprehensive approach to Christian ministry, which includes evangelism (bringing people to follow Jesus) and discipleship (teaching them to live faithfully according to Christ's teachings) as outlined by E. Raymond.
Ordinary Christian Living: Based on Hebrews 3:13 and James 2, this involves the everyday actions of a Christian who seeks to encourage, exhort, guide, watch over, help, and protect fellow believers. It emphasizes the importance of a supportive and caring Christian community.
-
Recognizing Jesus as Lord and Savior: This is the foundational belief of Christianity. It involves acknowledging that Jesus is the Lord and that He sacrificed Himself to atone for our sins, leading to salvation and eternal life.
Demonstrating Genuine Love (2 Cor. 2:4): This signifies the importance of expressing sincere love and compassion for others, reflecting the love and forgiveness that God has shown to us, as emphasized in 2 Corinthians 2:4.
Leading by Example (1 Cor. 11:1): It involves serving as a role model in one's Christian walk. A discipler sets a virtuous example, allowing the learner to imitate them as they, in turn, imitate the character and teachings of Christ, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 11:1.
Promoting Diversity in the Church (1 Cor. 12): This emphasizes the significance of recognizing and nurturing the unique spiritual gifts and talents of each individual within the church community, contributing to the overall strength and unity of the body, following the guidance in 1 Corinthians 12.
Equipping Others for Discipleship (2 Tim. 2:2): This involves the process of training and mentoring learners, preparing them to become effective disciplers themselves. The goal is to create a chain of discipleship, following the model outlined in 2 Timothy 2:2.
